Agro Food Park was officially opened September 9^th 2009. It is established due to the fact that the Danish agriculture and food industry needs to be innovative and in constant development in order to sustain a competitive position compared to the industry in the rest of the world. Denmark cannot compete on low production costs or wages, nor the production areas, and therefore it is of most importance that we maintain our force: Innovation and development. Hence, Agro Food Park was created.

Agro Food Park is located in Skejby, Aarhus and forms a new cluster of companies and institutions working within the field of agriculture and food. Innovation, distribution of knowledge and close co-operation across companies is of absolute paramount. The high concentration of international companies in the area around Skejby, such as Danisco, Arla Foods, Aarhus Karlshamn and Danish Crown, provides many opportunities for close cooperation, and the upcoming improved infrastructure makes the location of Agro Food Park perfect.

Agro Food Park provides frames to strengthen the innovation capacity in the Danish agriculture and food sector. Already, Agro Food Park accommodates 650 employees and has 23.000 square metres of office space, laboratory and conference facilities at its disposal, and by the end of 2011, another addition of 5.000 m2 office space will be made.

The Knowledge Centre for Agriculture, AgroTech A/S and Aarhus Municipality initiated Agro Food Park.
